Japan to gift two rakes for bullet train tests ahead of August ’26 start
Japan will gift India two Shinkansen train sets for inspection on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, expected by early 2026. These trains will help Indian engineers familiarize themselves with Shinkansen technology. Phase 1 is set to open on a 48 km stretch in Aug 2026, while Maharashtra faces delays due to tunnelling work.
